so this past weekend my little brother and his gfriend jackie came out to visit my in the nyc. it was a rockin good time. we went and hung out at different places. we played big buck hunter pro. we went to the museum of modern art. we checked out central park. we checked out the festival in little italy.
we obviously did quite a lot.
the following photo i find quite interesting. i’ll try to find out what piece of art that is at the moma. it was one of jackie’s favs if i remember correctly (which i very well may not).

The MoMA is awesome — too bad you didn’t make it with me and Mich when I was in NYC! I love the second image. It’s really interesting how something simple be so visual and open to interpretation.
And while I was looking for the name of the room where all the impressionist paintings are, I found this quote on Starry Night by Van Gogh:
“Looking at the stars always makes me dream,” he said, “Why, I ask myself, shouldn’t the shining dots of the sky be as accessible as the black dots on the map of France? Just as we take the train to get to Tarascon or Rouen, we take death to reach a star.”
what’s happenin’ kat-
that’s an interesting quote. near the starry night painting there was a brief history about van gogh staying up at night and painting it. i’d tell u more, but i can’t remember shit.
did u find the name of that painting?
i have an amazing photo to send you. i took it. it’s of another photo. i know. twisted, but awesome.
thanks.
in advance.
for saying it’s ‘twisted, but awesome.’
haha that painting was by barnett newman. i think at the exact moment you took that picture i was reading about how newman thought he had reached full maturity in his style with “zips,” ie, that line.
the hanging helicopter is one of my favorite parts of the MOMA. plus, when you walk around, you always feel like you and the building are interacting, with the windows and walkways and all the different vantage points. all in all, i give it three thumbs up.
